Utada Hikaru Collaborates with Skrillex on "KINGDOM HEARTS III" Opening Theme
Utada Hikaru and Skrillex have joined forces to create the opening theme for "KINGDOM HEARTS III", and it will be released as a single on January 18th, 2019.
It has been announced that Utada Hikaru will be collaborating with Skrillex to record the opening theme for "KINGDOM HEARTS III", Face My Fears.
Skrillex is known to be a big fan of "KINGDOM HEARTS", so Utada had reached out to him to do a remix of Chikai, the ending theme for the game. However, Skrillex proposed not just doing a remix, but rather an original song, which is why this collaboration came about. Poo Bear, who has worked with Skrillex many times in the past and famously produced Justin Bieber’s What Do You Mean?, will also be involved.
The song will be released as a single on January 18th, 2019. The release will include both English and Japanese versions of Face My Fears, as well as the songs Chikai and Don’t Think Twice. The single will be available as both a physical CD and a digital download.
This will be Utada’s first CD single in over ten years, following 2008’s Prisoner of Love.
