Tokyo-born, California-raised singer-songwriter Michael Kaneko will release his first album on August 19th.
ESTERO will contain 11 tracks, including both songs in a stripped down acoustic style and tracks with more of a band sound. The lead track Breakdown features a guest appearance from rapper Daichi Yamamoto. Kaneko's origami PRODUCTIONS labelmate Hiro-a-key is also said to have assisted with writing some Japanese lyrics for the album.
The album will be available in two editions. The limited edition will add a bonus CD titled Sounds From The Den vol.2: Acoustic Covers, which will feature eight cover songs. The songs range from famous older tunes such as Jamiroquai's
Virtual Insanity and Oasis' Don't Look Back In Anger to more modern hits like Justin Bieber's Sorry.
Links to pre-order the release are available here, and download and streaming links will become available at the same location on the release date.
Kaneko was one of the eight acts who took part in the From Japan to the World online music festival in June. An archive of his set from the event can be viewed below.
