DJ and composer BAKU recently teamed up with rapper Jin Dogg, Tatsuro Mukai and Kuni of influential 90s hardcore band Nunchaku and drummer/trackmaker Tomy Wealth for a new digital single.
Titled VIDEOPHOBIA, the song is the ending theme for the upcoming film of the same name, which will be premiering on October 24th. BAKU also handled the background music for the movie. VIDEOPHOBIA feat. Jin Dogg, Nunchaku (Tatsuro Mukai, Kuni), Tomy Wealth was
just released today, and links to find the single on popular digital stores and streaming services are available here.
The collaboration came about because BAKU was a fan of Nunchaku as
a teenager, and he was impressed by Jin Dogg's 2017 track the Break, which is a cover of the Nunchaku song IchibuFubuku, and how it seemed to unite fans of different genres and generations when he saw him perform it live.
The film "VIDEOPHOBIA" also happens to be set in the Tsuruhashi area of Osaka, which is Jin Dogg's hometown, so he felt that the stars had aligned for the project.
BAKU is also currently in the middle of a crowdfunding campaign, aiming to raise 1,000,000 yen to help pay expenses related to the production of a special "short movie" music video for the song, as due to the effects of COVID-19, the release of
the film was delayed and the artists were unable to raise funds for the project through normal activities. It is currently about halfway to its goal. More details are available here.
