As previously reported, rapper Novel Core has joined BMSG, a new management company founded by
SKY-HI, and he will be making his major debut this month with a digital single called SOBER ROCK.
Now, more details on the release have been revealed. The song was produced by SOURCEKEY, a unit consisting of SKY-HI and SHIMI from BUZZER BEATS, and it will also feature Takuya Yamanaka, the frontman of rock
band THE ORAL CIGARETTES, on guitar.
The song will be released on streaming services on October 16th. Links to pre-add and pre-save it on Spotify and Apple Music are available here.
Novel Core began rapping and participating in MC battles under the name Core-Boy in 2016, when he was just 15 years old. He competed in the BAZOOKA!!! Koukousei RAP senshuken - a popular rap battle competition for high school
students that helped to draw attention to artists such as CHANMINA and BAD HOP's T-Pablow - four times, winning the championship once and runner-up twice.
In 2018, he featured on a track from SKY-HI's mixtape
FREE TOKYO under the name Novel Core and announced that he had signed with rapper ZEEBRA's label GRAND MASTER. He released his first single that year, and his first full album WCMTW just hit stores this April. The album featured another collaboration
with SKY-HI titled Doze Off.
SOBER ROCK will be released on B-ME, a label that is a joint venture between BMSG and avex.
