RAY Reveals New Song and Announces Sayaka Shirakawa's Graduation
Idol unit RAY have revealed a new song created in collaboration with members of shinda boku no kanojo, and Sayaka Shirakawa will graduate from the group in February 2021.
Shoegaze-influenced idol unit RAY just revealed a new song on YouTube on December 19th.
Titled Resignation, it was written by Ishikawa, the vocalist and guitarist of noise pop band shinda boku no kanojo (aka my dead girlfriend). Ishikawa also recorded
the guitar and synthesizer for the track, while his bandmate kawakami handled the bass.
RAY have some history with shinda boku no kanojo - the girls even covered their song Kanojo ga tsumetaku warattara in the past - and their relationship led to the creation of this new original song.
The group has also revealed a new artist visual that combines photography with illustrations. The images were created by digital artist/illustrator from_photobooth.
In addition, RAY just transferred over to SOVA, the company behind tipToe., another
idol group that they have a strong relationship with, in November. They hope that this new partnership will allow RAY to maintain its creative identity while providing some of the organizational support the group needs to grow.
However, it was also announced earlier this month that group member Sayaka Shirakawa will be graduating from RAY in 2021. It was stated that the main reason for her decision is that she is having trouble balancing her activities
as an idol with her schoolwork and she does not want to pursue activities with RAY halfheartedly. Her final show with the group, Hikari, will be held at Shinjuku BLAZE on February 23rd.
