Rock band The Birthday will release a new album on July 28th.
Their 11th in total, SUNBURST will be available in four editions. All of them will feature 11 tracks. The regular edition will be CD-only, while the limited edition will add a Blu-ray disc documenting their GLITTER SMOKING FLOWERS TOUR 2020,
with the main focus being on the November 17th show that took place at NHK Hall last year.
The third version will be a double disc 12" vinyl edition. The fourth will be exclusive to the
UNIVERSAL MUSIC STORE, taking the contents of the limited edition and adding a "Vietnam jacket". The jacket is a reissue of a design that they released in a very limited quantity after the end of their LOOKING FOR TEARDROPS TOUR in 2007.
This album comes 15 years after their debut single stupid, and it also commemorates the 10th anniversary of guitarist Kenji Fujii joining the band.
To give fans a preview, a new track titled Gekkou was released as a preceding digital single on July 15th. The song is available for download and streaming on various music platforms here.
A music video for the song featuring a "Blade Runner"-inspired cyberpunk aesthetic was also revealed on YouTube.
