New Single from One Eye Closed

Rock band One Eye Closed released a new single on digital platforms today.

Titled Squall, the song features a guest appearance from AJ Rebollo of American rock band ISSUES. The track was composed by guitarist none and vocalist REI. REI also penned the lyrics, which are said to revolve around the theme of perseverance, expressed through the image of a journey through a snowstorm. The song was mixed and mastered by Яyo Trackmaker of girugamesh.

REI commented:
"The whole process began with none passing me the demo track and mentioning that he envisioned a snowstorm when writing the song. I gave it a listen and imagined a character walking against strong winds in a snowstorm, striving until the journey ends. It led me to a deep reflection on our journey as a band.

At that point, our band was going through a phase where we were trying to find ourselves. We were getting a lot of opportunities that were going nowhere due to the global pandemic. We also have met a lot of great bands that provided us with guidance, but we still found ourselves unable to fit in with surrounding scenes perfectly. Though both excitement and disappointment struck us, giving up wasn’t in me. I wanted to write lyrics that were a reminder for the band of our dreams and our own efforts, so we picked ourselves up and kept writing. We kept doing what we wanted to do, and we even went back to why we started the band. We wanted to reflect all this into the entirety of the song for our fans to also keep moving forward together with us.

On that note, all members were fans of ISSUES before we even formed. With that shared love for ISSUES and bands-alike between us 4, we started playing together. I believe that our fans can definitely feel that influence in our work. When I was writing the vocals, I was actually envisioning a part with strictly unclean vocals. I then thought, 'wouldn’t it be cool if AJ Rebollo from ISSUES could do the unclean vocals here?” Long story short, since we were huge fans of AJ’s guitar work, composition skills, and amazing vocal work, we shot him a message and now the band is ecstatic and honored to have AJ be a part of this song that means a lot to us.

We’re also honored to say that this is our 2nd time working with Яyo Trackmaker of girugamesh, with the remaster of our track Low being the first. I’ve been a huge fan of girugameshsince I was a young teen and to be able to work with Яyo Trackmaker was a dream come true of mine.
