ZIGZO frontman Tetsu Takano kicked off 2022 by announcing that he has formed a new band, adding to an already long list of projects that includes groups such as nil, THE JUNEJULYAUGUST and THE BLACK COMET CLUB BAND.
The new group is called DISCO VOLANTE (Italian for "flying saucer"), and it consists of Tetsu on vocals and guitar, as well as members he has worked with in a number of his other bands, including bassist Masaru Kobayashi (The Cro-Magnons,
nil, THE BLACK COMET CLUB BAND), keyboardist Tooru Yoshida (best known for his support work with bands such as MUCC and ZIGZO) and drummer Jin Terui (PULLING TEETH, THE BLACK COMET CLUB BAND).
DISCO VOLANTE will release its first full album on April 1st. Titled Mikakunin hikoubuttai (kari), it will be recorded, mixed and mastered by MUCC guitarist Miya. In addition to Yoshida touring with MUCC, the
members of the two bands have also collaborated on other projects recently, as Miya mastered ZIGZO's 2021 album across the horizon and Preppy Boys Slippy (a unit consisting of Tetsu and Yoshida) composed the song
Kowareta Piano from MUCC vocalist Tatsuro's solo album Hikagaku houteishiki.
On the same day the album hits stores, DISCO VOLANTE will embark on a tour to support it, beginning with a show at Kichijouji Planet K in Tokyo.
