Rock band Apes released their first EP Catchall digitally on March 23rd.
Apes were the grand prix winners of "Go To Audition", the first audition run by "Jisedai Rock Kenkyuukaihatsushitsu" ("Jirokken" for short), a Sony Music management section devoted to discovering the next generation of rock music and starting new trends. They were chosen from
over 1,000 applicants. Other artists attached to Jirokken include CHAI, Survive Said The Prophet, Creepy Nuts and TENDOUJI.
Formed in 2017, Apes is an indie rock band that draws influences from acts ranging from Nirvana to NOT WONK, Ayano Kaneko and Arctic Monkeys. Their sound is said to reflect the reality of life as a young person
in Tokyo, offering freshness, individuality and a hint of nostalgia. The name "Apes" refers to the continuing evolution of their sound.
Catchall contains four tracks: LOSER,
501, Highlight and Yasashiku narenai. The title refers to the fact that the band performs songs featuring a wide variety of sounds, so their music cannot be described with a single word. The songs were all written by frontman Leo Sakai and
arranged by Apes.

In addition, an MV for Highlight was recently revealed. The MV was directed by Yuki Sato,
who has photographed and created videos for artists the members of Apes have great respect for, such as NOT WONK and Siamese Cats.
