Rock band The Birthday will release a new EP on April 3rd.
Titled April, it will contain three songs: Cider, S.P.L and I SAW THE LIGHT.
In April 2023, The Birthday went on a hiatus from live activities suddenly to allow frontman Chiba Yusuke to focus on undergoing treatment for esophageal cancer. Just before the hiatus, it was announced that the band would be working
on writing and recording two mini-albums titled September and
April, which were scheduled for release in September 2023 and April 2024, respectively.
While Chiba passed away in November 2023, the band’s three remaining members decided to try to fulfill his wishes and completed the three songs on the EP. The EP will be accompanied by a 64-page photobook featuring images from shows spanning the band’s 2015 performance at Nippon Budokan to Chiba's last show in March 2023.
