Rock band HYSTERIC PANIC announced their disbandment today.
In a message posted on their official website, the members expressed their gratitude to everyone who supported them throughout their 12-year career. They stated they will all be going their separate ways from now on, but they hope the fans will
continue to support them in their future ventures.
In his individual comment, guitarist and vocalist Tackrou blamed himself for the decision, saying that he was suffering from an unspecified mental illness a few years ago but was working to rebuild the band in his own way.
However, in the process, there were disagreements with the members and team and before he realized, it was impossible to salvage the situation. He stated that, looking back, he can't help but wonder if the band's future might have turned out differently
if he had been able to admit his weakness and share his feelings more openly.
He apologized to the members, saying he was sorry for causing them trouble and thanking them for continuing the band with him until this point.
He confessed that the band was originally started with the intention that it would be a hobby he could casually enjoy on his days off while working as a salaryman, but as they became more successful he found it harder to enjoy the current moment and became obsessed with reaching
the next goal and writing better songs. He stated that while he blames himself for the band's demise, he is still very proud of what they achieved together and sees them as truly one of a kind and the coolest band in the universe. He noted that
he doesn't plan to be in another band in the future, but that he doesn't think he can stop singing and writing songs, so he will likely continue to make music in some form.
Vocalist Tomo stated that the disbandment happened because they were no longer in a position to operate properly, comparing the band to a person who has fallen ill and suddenly died. He stated that it was ironically very HYSTERIC PANIC-like to
end this way, and that while it is a bit dark to say so, this "bad ending" might be the "completion of HYSTERIC PANIC." However, he also shared his love and deep gratitude for the band, stating that it changed his life,
giving him countless good experiences, dreams and a reason to live when he wanted to die.
Regarding his future, Tomo stated that he may or may not continue with music. He stated that he is not skilled enough to do things on his own, but if he meets some friends who are on the same wavelength in the future he will return to the stage.
Bassist Okacchi declared that he will continue making music in some form, but drummer Yacchi was less clear about his intentions, simply stating that he hopes the fans will support all of the members individually if they see them continuing
activities in the future.
HYSTERIC PANIC was formed in Nagoya in 2012. They made their major debut in April 2015 with the single Usotsuki..
