Visual rock band LIPHLICH announced today that their vocalist Shingo Kuga passed away on August 4th.

The statement posted on their official website noted that the loss was so sudden and hard to believe that the members are also confused and haven't been able to process their sadness and mourn yet. The cause of death was not specified.

At the request of his family, his funeral was held with only relatives.

The band apologized for the delay in reporting the news to their fans and any inconvenience or concern it may have caused (Kuga's solo performance at PetitMOA on August 4th was cancelled suddenly on the date of the show due to unspecified circumstances). They noted that they are planning to hold a memorial event where fans and other people can pay their respects in the future.

The statement asked people to respect the grieving family and members and avoid making inquiries about the situation, and it thanked the band's fans and other related parties for all of their support until now.

It was noted that all of Kuga's scheduled performances and events will be cancelled and tickets will be refunded. Fans will be notified of the method to receive their refunds at a later date and are asked to hold onto their tickets until then.

LIPHLICH was formed in 2010. Shingo Kuga was the group's main songwriter and the only remaining member from its original line-up. The band announced a hiatus at the end of 2023, stating that the members would be focusing on individual activities starting from February 2024 but that they fully intended to restart LIPHLICH with the same line-up in the future. Kuga released his first solo album, PUBLISH DEMO, digitally on June 14th. He had just launched a new website for his solo career at the end of July and had solo concerts and event appearances booked into October.

A digest trailer for PUBLISH DEMO is available below, and links to stream the release on various music platforms can be found here.
