Rapper JUBEE released his second album Liberation on July 31st.
Recently, he unveiled a new music video for one of the 11 songs featured on the release, a cover of PICK UP THE PIECES. The song was originally performed by Takeshi Ueda's solo project AA=, a group JUBEE personally
loves and respects.
Titled PICK UP THE PIECES (Mass Infection Mix), JUBEE's version of the song was produced and mixed by Ueda himself. It's said to be half a straightforward cover, half a hard, violent rearrangement of the song. Ueda also
produced and mixed an original song for the Liberation album called Re-create.
The music video for the PICK UP THE PIECES cover is said to express the theme of "self destruction and rebirth." JUBEE handled the creative direction himself, and his vision was made a reality by director Oudai Kojima (director
O).
Available on streaming platforms worldwide now, Liberation features a number of other collaborations. Guests featured on the release include RIZE and The BONEZ frontman JESSE,
yonige frontwoman Arisa Ushimaru,
Age Factory vocalist shimizu eisuke and rappers OMSB, MUD, (sic)boy and HIYADAM. Other producers who contributed to the album include CYBERHACKSYSTEM, TSUBAME and Yohji Igarashi.
The music video for PICK UP THE PIECES (Mass Infection Mix) can be streamed below, followed by the original version of the song from AA='s 2019 album #6 and the MV for JUBEE's collaboration with
(sic)boy and HIYADAM, Playground.
