Chiaki Kuriyama has announced that she is to debut as a singer with the single
Ryuusei No Namida, which will be released on February 24th.
Chiaki's acting career began in 1995, including "Gonin" in the same year and "Shikoku" in 1999. Her impressive performance in 2000 movie "Battle Royale" caught the attention of director
Quentin Tarantino, leading to her Hollywood debut in his movie "Kill Bill Vol.1" in 2003. For this, she won the Best Fight category of the 2004 MTV Movie Awards.
Following on from her impressive acting career,
Chiaki is now set to make her debut as a singer under the name
CHiAKi KURiYAMA. Her artist name is derived from the three sides of herself: “i as a normal girl”, “i as an actress”, and “i as a singer”. More information can be found on her

Ryuusei No Namida is being used as the theme song to the anime series "Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn". It will be available in three editions, with the regular CD-only edition featuring the title track, its instrumental counterpart and the b-side
Kekkai IN MY BED. There will also be two limited editions, with one including a DVD of
Ryuusei No Namida's PV and the other featuring "Gundam" artwork and the movie version of the title track.
